Introducing the Jacob & Co. Astronomia Revolution

Read

Jacob & Co. has updated their flagship model, the Astronomia, with the new Astronomia Revolution, which features a sleek design that showcases the watch’s two most important features: the architectural movement and the mechanics. The remontoire system has been upgraded to charge and discharge six times per second, making it incredibly fast and lending its name to the model.

The Astronomia was originally introduced in 2014 as one of Jacob & Co.’s earliest technical marvels, created to set the brand apart from its peers. It boasts an architectural movement with a vertical tower and horizontal arms mounted on a central carrier that rotates around the dial once every 20 minutes in the original iterations.

The latest Astronomia Revolution features a carrier that rotates at a speed of one revolution per minute, making it visually captivating and doubling up as a seconds hand. The most significant technical improvement is the patent-pending remontoire system, which charges and discharges six times per second, providing a constant amount of energy to the balance wheel at every beat.

Overall, the new Astronomia Revolution is a stunning timepiece that showcases Jacob & Co.’s commitment to technical proficiency and innovation.

The Astronomia Revolution boasts impressive mechanics, including a triple-axis tourbillon with three unique axes of movement. The cage rotates once every 15 seconds, while the entire assembly rotates around the axis of the arm every minute, and the movement moves around the dial once a minute as well.

Despite the fast rotations, the watch’s styling has been streamlined, with only a single rotating ruby remaining on the dial, along with a high-polished surface cut with a honeycomb pattern. This new design is a departure from the previous high jewellery style, but still manages to be interesting and captivating in its details.

Jacob & Co.’s latest creation, the Astronomia Revolution, is a testament to the brand’s ability to deliver complex, creative, and daring timepieces with a clean and focused approach. Similar to the recently unveiled Casino Tourbillon, this release proves that watches can be both fun and seriously technical.

Building upon the impressive movement construction of the original Astronomia, the Revolution model features a faster rotating carrier and one of the fastest tourbillons in the market with a period of only 15 seconds. But the true standout is the 1/6th second constant-force device, which is a world-first innovation. Overall, the Astronomia Revolution is a remarkable feat of horology that showcases the brand’s expertise and commitment to pushing boundaries.
